William J. Schoen III, 84, of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at his home. Bill was born on October 25, 1939 to the late William and Martha Schoen in Louisville, KY. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Xavier High School, where he served as captain, and played on the State Championship Football team. He later attended the University of Louisville, and then proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years. Bill retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years of service, and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, horseracing, and was an all around sports lover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by loving wife, Barbara Mattingly Schoen, his grandparents, Joseph and Nora Russell and William and Virginia Schoen; and his sister, Penny Logan. Bill is survived by two daughters, Laura Schoen (Holly) and Christina Alexander (Carl); four siblings, Russell Schoen (Lisa), Sally Farris (Joe), Mary Bolzan (John), and Matthew Schoen (Kathy); a brother-in-law, Brad Logan; grandchildren, Ryan Alexander, Ashley Baurle (Josh), Andrew Alexander (Brittany), and Timothy Alexander (Nora); great grandchildren, Noah Sirles, Addliyn, Elli, Penelope, Gretta and Lincoln Alexander. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mt. Washington. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers are suggested to Kosair Charities.
