She was a longtime resident of Mount Washington, KY, Shepherdsville, KY and Midland, MI. Wilma was a homemaker, a veteran’s spouse, the mother of four boys, and a church secretary. She was one heck of a good cook, a gracious hostess, a friend to pastors and their families, and a spectacular Memaw. Wilma was family-focused and friend devoted. Countless people have said of her, “She was my very best friend.” Wilma was a woman of deep personal faith in Jesus Christ her Lord. In addition to serving a quarter of a century in church administration, she also taught preschool throughout life, and faithfully served in countless capacities in her churches: First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville and Emmanuel Baptist Church of Midland, MI. Wilma was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her husband, as well as her siblings and in laws: Thelma (and Rogers) Shelburne, Gladys (and Aldin) Jones, Melville “Bud” (and Evelyn) Owen, Calvin (and Myrna) Owen and Juanita Owen. She is survived by her four sons, Bruce (Jeralyn) Lee of Denali Park, AK, Steve (DeAnn) Lee of Waynesville, OH, Kevin (Dianna) Lee of Hopkinsville, KY and Tim (Tracy) Lee of Port Townsend, WA. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Amber (and Damion) Talcott (of St. Louis, MO), Jasmine Lee (of South Lebanon, OH), Alison (and Travis) Struble (of Hopkinsville, KY), and Cooper Lee (of Port Townsend, WA). She also enjoyed the blessing of having 4 great grandchildren: Colton, CharleeAnn, and Madilynn Struble and Fitz Talcott. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who greatly enriched her life—as well as countless treasured friends who blessed her through the many decades of her long life. Visitation and a celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 31 at the Coakley Chapel at First Baptist Church of Mount Washington, KY. Visitation will begin for the public at noon. The funeral will be at 2 pm with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. These were some of the words Wilma selected for this day: John 14:27-29, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So, don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.” In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts be made to: The Residency Program of New Work Fellowship, The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the Alzheimer’s Association, or First Baptist Church, Shepherdsville.
